Jind: A child marriage was stopped by a women's group, child marriage prohibition department and the police in Safidon city in the district, an official said.
The bride was found to be of 16 years of age and the groom was 19-years-old, the official said.
Police was informed about the marriage in Geeta colony of the district after the bridegroom's family had reached the venue.
The parents of both the teenagers have given written apology to the woman's group and a child marriage prohibition
officer that they will follow the law and will not marry off their children before they reach the legal marriageable age, police said.
