Veteran South actresses Lissy Lakshmi and Suhasini Maniratnam hosted a special Hawaiian-themed bash at a beach resort in Mahabalipuram, Chennai. It was a reunion of sorts when the who's who of 1980s cinema took time from their choc-a-bloc schedule and come together in order to celebrate their years of friendship. Lissy Lakshmi is the ex-wife of noted filmmaker Priyadarshan. Suhasini is married to legendary director Maniratnam.

Lissy Lakshmi put a post about the event on Facebook which read, "The gang was in #chennai. Class of 80's met for their 8th reunion in chennai on 17th. It a was wonderful evening. Nostaglia at its best. The one's who couldnt make it were deeply missed. Look forward to the next year."
Khushbu Sundar posted pictures of herself on Twitter with Venkatesh, Sarathkumar, Jackie Shroff and Ramya Krishnan. She captioned her post, "My darlings."
Another post by Khushbu which had a photograph of everyone who was in attendance read, "What would life be without friends?? Our world..our happiness..our togetherness.. 80's reunion..annual ritual..already missing all of them."
The first such reunion united top film stars from the 1980s took place in 2009. Suhasini and Lissy came up with this concept and it has become an annual affair ever since with one member of the '80s club' hosting a get-together for the others. Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Rajinikanth, and Ambareesh have also hosted such dos over the years.

The event 28 actors in attendance, which included Jackie Shroff, Chiranjeevi, Victory Venkatesh, Ramya Krishnan, Sarath Kumar, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Khushbu Sundar, Rahman, Revathy, Shobana, Poonam Dhillon and Bhagyaraj among many others.

It was a two-day affair with song and dance performances and the actors present even shared interesting anecdotes about the songs that they performed. Chiranjeevi won a fashion competition for men at the event.
