Pune builders were horrified with the arrest of Ashwin Naik gang's henchman Sandip Dicholkar, who extorted Rs 10 lakh from Nikhil Rane.

Pune builders were horrified with the arrest of Ashwin Naik gang's henchman Sandip Dicholkar, who extorted Rs 10 lakh from Nikhil Rane. The builders thought that the Naik gang had become active inu00a0 the city. But investigations revealed that Dicholkar had separated from the Naik gang about six months ago, and was using Naik's name to extort money.

PI Kishor Jadhav said, "Although Dicholkar was Naik's long time associate, investigations suggest that he had separated from Naik gang before committing the crime." According to Jadhav, Dicholkar has over a dozen cases against him. He was last released from Yerwada jail in 2003.

The Crime branch's anti extortion cell arrested Sandip Dicholkar, Dhanajay Dixit,u00a0 Sandip Sangle and Dipak Borkar for extorting money from Nikhil Rane who died on November 30. Rane was shot in broad daylight outside his office on November 28.
