Cinema City is a project that will showcase the inter-relationship between cinema and Mumbai

To establish the close connection shared by the city of Mumbai with the medium of cinema, Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai, in collaboration with Majlis, a multi-disciplinary centre for art initiatives has organised several activities, under the umbrella of an event, Cinema City. The three-day affair will witness the launch of two books — Project Cinema City and Dates.Sites —and display of three interactive public installations.

While Project Cinema City is primarily a set of enquiries into the labour, imagination, desire, spaces, locations, iconisation, languages and hidden processes that will act as bridges between cinema and the city, dates.sites will present a timeline of Mumbai in the 20th century, anchored to its most adored public institution: cinema.
As far as the installations are concerned, The Calendar Project: Iconography in the 20th Century, Bioscope: A game of Cinema–City–Modernity Timeline, and Cinema City Lived: Map of cinema on the body of the city further elaborate on the theme of the event.
