Thane: A senior clerk with Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant, ACB said.

Ankush Kashinath Kadam, the clerk with UMC's Town Planning department, had demanded Rs 20,000 from a developer to get his plan approved, Thane ACB division's Additional SP Shrinivas Ghadge said.

The aggrieved developer lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau which laid a trap and caught the clerk yesterday while accepting the bribe, he said.

Offences under sections 7, 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 have been registered against the accused, he added.
