It’s a public photo contest organised by the Wikimedia Community with an aim to provide high-quality license free photographs of local monuments to wikipedia.
The contest takes place at two levels: first up are the nationals where the national organisers (here Wikimedia India) will select the national winners who can win a cash prize of anywhere between Rs 500 to Rs 25,000 along with a special prize for the least photographed monument.
In the second stage, the national winners will compete with photographers from other countries, where an international jury will select the best monument photos in 2013. All you got to do is take a photograph of a historic monument, sign up to Wikipedia Commons and upload your picture for the contest.
