Sehwag feels Delhi is doing well this season because every member of the team is much more committed this time.

Commitment has worked for Delhi Daredevils: Sehwag

Delhi Daredevils have not won the IPL as yet. Does this fact make your team more determined?
We are playing much better cricket this time — with bat and ball. Every member of our team is much more committed this time and that’s why people are watching a much better all-round performance from us. I must credit Mr Srinivas Bommidala who has spent a huge amount of money to make this team. Despite not doing well in the first four years, he has not give up. Instead, he has concentrated on building a very well balanced side. We are all happy with our progress.

Sunil Gavaskar reckons you have realised the importance of staying at the wicket... finally!
Yes, I am punishing the loose balls in the earlier part of my innings. Please go through my strike rate in IPL and you’ll get a clear picture.u00a0

Your five consecutive fifties is a record in the IPL. Your comments?
I’m hitting the ball well and I hope it continues for the remaining part of the season.

There is tough competition for the Orange Cap to be among the top scorers in the IPL...
Yes, I got it once. Then, it went to other cricketers. I am not playing for that cap; only concentrating on helping my team win and nothing else.

Will you accept that this is your best IPL performance?
Yes, so far but there’s still a long way to go. I am happy with the way things are moving in my favour.

Surely, you must be hoping for Delhi Daredevils to reach the final this time…
We are not thinking along those lines. Anything can happen in a game of 240 balls. We are doing well so far. We face KKR here in Delhi tomorrow and will try to beat them as well.

Will you miss Kevin Pietersen, who has returned home?
Of course, I will. He is a delightful player. Every captain will like to have him in his team. I even value his words in our team meetings. We must admit that he really contributed with his bat during his stay with us.

What about David Warner, who replaces KP?
He’s an exciting player. I hope he shows us his extraordinary talent with the bat in the matches to come.

Will you still go in with Ross Taylor?
Of course. He is an excellent cricketer and I am sure he will showcase his talent in the second half of the tournament.u00a0
