Congress: BJP is helping Pakistan

Congress today accused the BJP of helping Pakistan with its statements at a time when all countries are tightening their noose around it on the issue of terror.

"The statement of Narendra Modi (local support to the Mumbai terror strike) has become a shield for Pakistan. This is at a time when the noose on the country is tightening," said party spokesman Manish Tewari.

Alleging that this raised a "serious question on the patriotism of BJP", Tewari said the strange relationship between the BJP and Pakistan be investigated. Claiming that Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani were echoing each other, Tewari said earlier Modi and Musharraf (Pervez) were singing the same tune.

Asked if Union Minister A R Antulay's controversial statement on the movement of the then ATS chief was not in a similar vein, the spokesman said that the party had dismissed Antulay's statement and even the government had described it as unfortunate.

Referring to the statements of party President Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram, the spokesman said that all options are open and there was no issue with Pakistan except terror. To a query about the timeline of the "options", Tewari said, "diplomacy has no timeline".
