Mathura: For the third consecutive day Congress workers today burnt effigies of BJP MP Hema Malini demanding an unconditional apology from her for reportedly calling their party vice president Rahul Gandhi a 'bechara' (helpless one) earlier this week.

The party workers burnt effigies of the actor-turned- politician at the busy Holigate area in Mathura, in Kosi Kalan, some 45 km from the district headquarters, and in Vrindaban, and threatened that they would intensify their stir if she did not tender an apology.

Hema had reportedly called Rahul Gandhi 'bechara' (helpless one) for opposing the GST bill which, she said, will be good for the country.

"We may intensify our stir if she doesn't offer an unconditional apology," said Abid Hussain, president, Mathura City Congress Committee.

The Congress workers also slammed the BJP MP for allegedly not fulfilling her promises made to farmers who had suffered heavy crop losses due to unseasonal hailstorm last year.

"So far she has not fulfilled any of her commitments. Neither has she distributed a single penny amongst farmers of Mathura nor has she done anything for cleaning Yamuna," Hussain alleged.
