Pune: Though only six runners are in the fray for the prestigious S A Poonawalla Multi-Million (Gr 2), what lacks in quantity is more than made up in terms of quality and competitiveness all the six runners, without exception, have been impressive last-outing winners.
The top two contenders, according to my Dynamic Ratings, are the Pesi Shroff-trained Continental and the Imtiaz Sait-trained Airco, both running in the silks of horse owner Shapoorji Pallanji Mistry. The danger to them may come from Bold Appeal, an impressive last outing winner trained by Karthik G.
There is very little to choose, especially between the two Mistry horses because while Continental was a fluent winner over the mile trip which, incidentally, is the distance of this race, Airco's spectacular debut victory hints at what may turn out to be the most dramatic improvement in second start of his career.
I nominate Continental for the top spot.
First race at 1.00 pm.
