Sub-Inspector Ranjana Salunkhe attached to the Juhu police station had been deployed at Juhu beach for the Ganpati visarjans on Saturday. She visited the restroom at the beach near Tulip Hotel and left her gun on the window ledge.

The authorities have questioned 25 people but are yet to receive a clue.

Confirming the theft, an official from the Santacruz police station said, “The officer had gone to the public toilet, from where it went missing. According to locals, there are many peeping Toms who visit the toilet. We have questioned 25 people so far but have received no clue.”
