Shahal Ibrahim, who has been admitted to Sahara Hospital, said, "I crossed the road with my bicycle and was talking to my friend Nakir when a police jeep pulled up and the inspector beat me with his 'lathi'. I managed to escape and reach home."u00a0
We never beat him
Shahal's father, U M Rafiq, said, "We never beat our child at home and we do not tolerate him being beaten in school also. We really feel bad seeing the lathi marks on his body."u00a0 Shahal Ibrahim, a fifth standard student of Beary's Public School, is a resident of Melangady near Mastikatte while his alleged tormentor has been identified as Ullal station police sub-inspector H Shivaprakash.

Additional superintendent of police R Dileep and deputy superintendent of police Jayanth Shetty visited the hospital and met the boy. They promised the parents swift action.
Meanwhile, a five-member team led by Democratic Youth Federation of India leader Muneer Katipalla and Ramachandra Uchchil also submitted a memorandum to Gopal Hosur, inspector general of police, western range.u00a0
He has promised action in 24 hours.
