No development was reported in the Saturday night incident, wherein five men had kidnapped a girl, who was rescued by police later. Two of the accused, Kartar and Pramod, were apprehended the same day, but others, Ramesh, Deepak and Arun, are still on the run. Deepak is the son of a former Haryana cop.
The police team of Fatehpur Beri, meanwhile, received out of turn promotion for actively foiling the boys' attempt to rape the girl.
"Ten names have been recommended to the Commissioner of Police, for their outstanding bravery. They have done an excellent job and that is why we have decided to promote them as well," said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south).
Meanwhile, several police teams have been pressed into service to nab the accused, whose residences were also raided.
On Saturday, five men in a white Scorpio had kidnapped Ritu (name changed), a Sahara Mall employee. The police intervened in time and rescued the girl before anything untoward happened.
According to the police, the accused might be hiding in Faridabad. "As Sunday was a holiday, most senior police officials posted in Haryana didn't pick our call. All the five accused would have been arrested by now," said a senior police official.
