Police have initiated action against the monster couple that brutally tortured a six-year-old boy residing in the hostel run by them in Panchgani. Acting on a complaint by the boy’s elder sister who lives in Chembur, cops arrested the accused on Wednesday, following which both of them were let out on bail.

Chembur resident Neetu Singh (25) was horrified to spot injury marks all over her little brother Kabir’s body. She learnt that ever since she had enrolled him at Aaradhya International hostel in Panchgani, he had been thrashed regularly by Malhar and Supriya Jadhav, who run the institution.
The torture got worse after the boy wet his bed and the couple locked him inside the bathroom for an entire night (Read Story: ‘6-year-old thrashed, locked in loo by hostel owners for peeing on the bed’, August 11). Neetu brought her brother back to Mumbai and filed a complaint with the Chembur police.
The cops registered an FIR against the couple (mid-day has a copy) under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and transferred the file to the Panchgani police station.
On Tuesday, Neetu went there to record her statement and the Panchgani police then swung into action, arresting the Jadhavs the very next day. The couple were later granted bail for Rs 15,000 each. “As per the statement of the complainant, we arrested the accused and produced them in the court, where they were granted bail,” said a Panchgani police officer.
