A day after the arrest of used-car dealer Gopal Hariram Khatri (46) for possessing huge cache of arms, the police are now concentrating on his links to find out from where he procured the weapons and explosives and for what purpose.
"We are considering all the possible angles. We are tracing the people and the contacts he made on that day and few days prior to his arrest," said Police Inspector Sunil Deshmukh, who is investigating the intention and source of the contraband seized from Khatri.
Deshmukh had told MiD DAY that the police recovered a true copy of application which Khatri was supposed to submit to Zone III office demanding police protection.
The document, however, had a stamp of September 18 and Khatri was nabbed on Septmeber 17. The police are trying to verify the genuineness of the document. Sources said Khatri told the police that he was supposed to submit the document September 18.
