A Serial laptop thief, who was arrested by the Dombivli Government Railway Police (GRP) and later handed over to the Thane GRP, fled amid the crowds at Thane railway station while he was being taken for interrogation last morning.

Con job: Pushkar Bombare (in black) would promise his victims small roles in Bollywood, and after earning their trust, would flee with their laptops

The accused, Pushkar Sumant Bombare, a resident of Dahanu, fled the long arm of the law when officials from the Thane GRP were taking him from the lock-up on platform five to platform one where he was to be questioned by senior officials.

Confirming the same, a Thane GRP official said, “The Thane GRP had taken custody of Bombare from Dombivli GRP as they too had registered an offence against him. On Sunday, when a constable got him out of the lock-up to be taken to the senior official, there was heavy rush on platform one of Thane station and Bombare managed to flee.”

The 36-year-old conman would meet people in trains and compliment them on their looks and tell them he could offer them roles in Bollywood, and then flee with their laptops. On June 19, the Dahanu resident was arrested for stealing the laptops of Dinesh Vilas Jadhav and Harshal Kadam.

Bombare lured the two teens into his trap by saying that they had a future in the film industry and would also get Rs 5,000 each for their roles. He then took their mobile numbers and on June 13, asked them to meet him at Dombivli station with their laptops.

After calling them, the three set out towards Thane where Bombare asked the two to freshen up before their photo shoot. When the two victims went to the washroom, Bombare fled with their laptops.

The Thane GRP has now formed teams to find Bombare and arrest him again.u00a0
