The Hadapsar and Swargate police have recovered bodies of two children who had died after their father Ankush Pansare threw them into the canal near Nanded Phata on Sinhgad Road.
Pansare, after killing Yuvraj (3) and Ganraj (5), had committed suicide jumping in front of a running train.
“Some of the locals spotted the body floating in the canal and alerted the Hadapsar polices station. During the investigation we discovered that it was Yuvraj’s body,” said Assistant Police Inspector (API) Satish Chavan of Hadapsar police station.
“We have sent the body to Wadgaon Budruk where the boy’s missing complaint was registered,” he added.
Besides, the Swargate police have recovered Ganraj’s body too from a canal near Dias Plot in Gultekdi.
According to police officials, “Pansare was mentally disturbed after he discovered that his stepbrother and sister had sold off ancestral property. Distressed, he threw both his sons in a canal before committing suicide.”
The Haveli police had recovered a suicide note from Pansare’s pocket.
