If you look at animation and computer graphics as a serious career, it's time you book your seat in the flight of fantasy

Films, advertisements, education and television the animation boom is being seen everywhere. However, this growth isn't supplemented by the availability of trained animators and computer graphic designers, which means that there is a range of jobs that await the right candidate. We tell you more about the entire ball game.

What do you need?
A career in animation requires strong artistic skills and a solid familiarity with the latest in computer animation technologies. It also requires the ability to turn creative thoughts into compelling images, using them to effectively communicate an idea. Graphic designers use a combination of artistic skills and technical abilities to communicate messages through visual media. These workers design advertisements, magazine layouts, fliers, posters, brochures and many other products used by companies and organisations to express a message or reach potential customers. Many graphic designers also work on the Web, where online advertising is a major source of revenue for many websites. Due to the proliferation of Internet advertising, graphic designers who have animation and multimedia skills will enjoy the best job prospects in coming years.

What's the deal?
An animator is responsible for taking an idea and creating a series of drawings that can be used to bring it to life. He or she must be able to think 'visually' and the ideation needs to be spun into lifelike or cartoon style drawings. Some animators use specialised computer programs to both draw and animate their ideas, butu00a0 still, they must have the fundamental understanding of drawing and creating as well as animation and film. Vikas Tomar, COO, Academy of Animation and Gaming says, "India is preferred destination for outsourced animation works when compared to China and Philippines. There are constant openings in movie making, gaming and simulation. At present what India lacks is the pre production process."u00a0
