Mumbai Indians skipper and India batsman Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh revealed that her husband had undergone "the hardest six months of his life" in an Instagram post she shared on Tuesday.

Rohit, who led his IPL franchise to victory in the IPL-2017 final on Sunday, last played for India in October 2016 when he hurt himself while batting against the Kiwis in Visakhapatnam. Having hurt his quadriceps while diving, he was forced to travel to London for treatment.

The injury forced him to miss the Test and ODI series against England, the one-off Test against Bangladesh and even the first two Tests against Australia.

The Mumbai cricketer started the cash-rich T20 tournament after the four-month injury lay-off.

His wife Sajdeh shared a picture of Rohit holding the IPL trophy with her, and captioned it, "It's not just because you captained your team to yet another IPL title but the fact that I've seen you go through possibly the hardest six months of your life and come out stronger, faster and more determined than ever. You're the strongest person I know and I am so so so proud of you."
