Officials investigating the Dabholkar murder case said that despite laying 16 traps in the state to nab killers of the anti-superstition crusader, the assailants have somehow managed to evade arrest till date

A rationalist, and founder of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, Dabholkar was murdered by two unidentified assailants on August 20 on Maharshi Shinde bridge near Omkareshwar temple in Shaniwar Peth during his morning walk.u00a0

Shahaji Solunke, additional commissioner of police (Crime Branch) said, “A total of 34 teams, including 20 from the Pune police, are currently working on this case.u00a0


We have verified the owners of more than 3,000 two-wheelers bearing number plates similar to that of the motorcycle used by the killers. Over 735 history-sheeters, involved in various execution of offences using firearms, were also interrogated.

Investigating officials have been receiving crucial information related to the whereabouts of Dabholkar’s killers. Several times, we went ahead and laid traps to nab the assailants. So far, we have had 16 unsuccessful attempts.”
