Very few can match the commitment of Wasim Jaffer. The ex-India opener has decided to play the quarter-final against Baroda (beginning today) even as his father remains critical after suffering a heart attack on December 31, 2012.

Jaffer’s father is battling for life at the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra and it is learnt that his chances of survival are low as he is slowly slipping into coma.

He took a day off yesterday (Friday), but practised today. We have left it completely up to him. He is very keen to play, which is great for us,” said Agarkar.

It may be recalled that Jaffer lost his mother Zulekha during Mumbai’s match against Himachal Pradesh in 2003. He had scored 47 then to help Mumbai win by 10 wickets. u00a0
