In yet another chilling suicide, 34-year-old Dipti Chauhan flung herself from the terrace of her Dahisar apartment complex after hurling her five year-old son, Siddhesh. Chauhan is believed to have covered his face with a cloth before hurling him.

Her husband Nilesh was present at their sixth floor apartment in Alaknanda Co-operative Society in Rawalpada, Dahisar (E) when the incident occurred at noon on Saturday. According to police officials, the reason behind the suicide may have been a financial dispute between the couple.

Residents of the society contacted the Dahisar police station, and the two were rushed to Bhagwati Hospital where they were declared dead on admission. Neighbours claim Dipti and her stockbroker husband often got into arguments over finances. The police are questioning the family.

Last month, 32 year-old chartered accountant Nidhi Gupta jumped off the 19th floor of the 21-storey Sahyadri Housing Complex in Malad after hurling her son Gaurav (6) and daughter Mahika (3). Her husband Pawan Gupta was arrested after her father Bimal Jalan registered a complaint against him and her in-laws.
