Steyn has taken a particular liking for India, having claimed 39 wickets in eight Tests, at less than 20 runs per scalp. In fact, no other fast bowler has come to India in recent times and taken 26 wickets in just five Tests, with two match-winning hauls to boot.
The 27-year-old told MiD DAY yesterday that he had "pretty much figured out" this Indian batting line-up. "I've always enjoyed bowling against India since they have a prolific batting order," he said.
Soon after Sachin Tendulkar got his 50th Test ton on Sunday, Steyn bowled him a barrage of hostile bouncers.
A few words were exchanged. Even non-striker Harbhajan Singh got into the act. It was Test cricket at its finest.
"I really enjoyed the battle with Sachin towards the end of Sunday's play. A few words were exchanged too. I am happy for him that he got his 50th Test century. He's a great ambassador not just for Indian cricket, but for world cricket too," said Steyn, adding that he was quite proud of his own achievement too. "I am glad I contributed to my team's victory," he said.
