Rhythm and movement with a conscience
Says Hrishikesh Pawar, "My students will be performing contemporary dance to the sounds of the ensemble. It is going to be our first performance with live music." There will be a story line for the performance and it's about going with the music. "It will be an impromptu performance and only certain pieces have been choreographed,"
The event will feature the Taal Inc. Rhythm Ensemble, which comprises of Varun Venkit (Djembe and Vocals), Agneya Chikte, Dhir Mody, Bipin Revankar ((Djembe), Amar Kulkarni (Sangban), Abhijeet Jejurikar (Dununba), Solonie Singh Pathania (Kenkeni), Gandhaar Amin (flute) and Yamini Lavanian (Vocals). They will be playing traditional West African folk music.
Varun Venkit of Taal Inc. says, "Contemporary dance and African folk music is a deadly combination to watch for. We have high energy music as well as subtle music so it is going to be a nice contrast."
