The accused has been identified as Nitin Purushottam Arole, a resident of Swapn Nagari, Manikbag on Sinhagad Road. The victim’s mother had lodged the complaint in this regard.
The incident came to light when the father of the victim’s friend brought them home from classes on Monday. “Both girls were crying and when asked the reason, they told us about the molestation,” the victim’s mother told the police. Cops said the girl’s parents admitted her to the class after seeing an advertisement about dance, drama and singing training for kids at Arole’s ‘Kill Bill Natyarang Bhoomi’ near Abhiruchi police chowky on Sinhagad Road. Regular classes began on April 11 between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm. About 40-45 other children are receiving training at the institute.
Assistant Police Inspector S C Shinde, who is probing the case, said, “The victim used to go for classes with a friend. One of their parents used to drop them off and bring them back from the classes.”
“Around 3.30 pm on Monday, Arole allegedly called the victim to his cabin for ‘practice’ and touched her inappropriately. She has told us that Arole molested four other girls in a similar manner,”
Shinde added. Police registered a case under section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested Arole around 10.30 pm on Monday. Yesterday afternoon, cops produced the accused in court, which remanded him in police custody till April 18.
