Karachi: Pakistan's banned leg-spinner, Danish Kaneria will not give up his fight to get his name cleared and seek damages from the England and Wales cricket board which imposed the punishment on him for spot fixing. A court of appeal in the United Kingdom today turned down an appeal by Kaneria against the life ban.

The judge in the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal, the Rt Hon Sir Stanley Burnton also ruled that Kaneria could not request this decision to be reconsidered and an ECB statement later said that "Kaneria has exhausted all the legal options available to him to appeal a life ban imposed for his role in spot-fixing while playing for Essex."

But brother of Danish said the matter was not over. "We are facing lot of financial difficulties because of the legal costs we have incurred since 2012 but we will support Danish all the way. He is convinced he has not got justice nor has any court heard him properly so he wants to fight on as he is innocent," Vicky Kaneria told PTI.

"We will sit down with our lawyers and decide the future course of action." A source close to Danish said he still had the option of approaching the European Courts or the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) - but what he has to consider was could he now bear the financial costs of these appeals. The ECB banned Kaneria in mid 2012 for his role in spot fixing in county cricket and one year later the appeal's panel of the ECB dismissed his appeal.

Kaneria than approached the commercial court of the UK High Court which deals with business disputes but it also dismissed the leg-spinner's appeal. Another source said that Danish was feeling extremely let down by the Pakistan cricket Board as at no stage had they tried to hear him out or support him.

"What rankles him is that while they are willing to push for the end of ban on Muhammad Aamir his case has been totally ignored by them," the source added. Kaneria is only the second Hindu to play Test cricket for Pakistan and is the country's leg spin bowler with 261 Test wickets before he was suspended from playing for Pakistan in September, 2010.
