Delhi Daredevils are the only winless side, losing all six matches they have played so far. However, Mumbai Indians batsman Dinesh Karthik feels Delhi are capable of turning it around.

“Delhi are a very good team and there is no doubting that. They have lost all their games and I am sure they will be hungry for success tomorrow. They are a very good team and there is no doubting that,” said Karthik on the eve of the match at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

“For us, the important thing is how we play. We have played good cricket and some ordinary cricket as well,” he said referring to his team’s heavy loss against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Wednesday. Mumbai Indians have won three out of their five games.

The form of openers Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting has been a subject of debate but Karthik did not see it as a problem. “Our opening stand has not been great but we are all aware of what they (Tendulkar and Ponting) can produce.”

Karthik, however, has been in sublime touch this season, scoring 254 runs in five games with a cracking strike rate of 148.53.u00a0

Asked about his role in the team, Karthik said: “There is no specific role. I have just been told to play my natural game. I am batting at number three and I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Delhi all-rounder Johan Botha feels it is time for the seniors to stand up and take responsibility to help the team end its six-match losing streak.
Botha remained hopeful the Delhi can taste their first win in the season against Mumbai Indians today.

He said that six consecutive losses hurt and they focussed on the game against Mumbai to end the losing streak.

“Yes, it hurts. None of us, when we got here wanted this situation, but out of these situations, there are great opportunities for the guys to put a stop to this slide. We are just taking it one game at a time.

We can’t look and say that we want to win eight or nine out of ten games or whatever it is to get into the play offs. For now, from this situation we just concentrate and focus on one game which, for now is against Mumbai,” he said.
