In the first final of the last race, Jehan finished sixth while his closest Championship rival Martijn van Leeuwen finished second. In the controversial second final, stewards restarted the race twice, both times when Jehan had an advantage over van Leeuwen. A botched start by van Leeuwen saw him collide with Alessio Lorandi. With Jehan only needing to be in the top three to win the championship, Jehan was looking in good shape.
Unexpectedly, the race officials threw a red flag, which resulted in the grid being reformed with the drivers in their original starting positions nullifying Jehan’s advantage. After a further red flag and a dubious decision to commence the race in single file, Jehan’s fate was determined.
