Months before he stepped into politics, Deputy Mayor N Dayanand had started studying for the prestigious UPSC exams he took yesterday
Although deputy mayor N Dayanand had made it big at a young age, he isn't resting on his laurels. The first-time corporator from Bennigana Halli ward has now set his eyes set on becoming a bureaucrat.
The 27-year-old, the most qualified neta in the BBMP, appeared for the UPSC exam at the National College in Basavanagudi yesterday.

An M-tech, Dayanand believes that one can serve people in two ways either by getting into politics or by joining the civil services.

When asked about his choice of subjects, he said, "Sociology and Public Administration are not only easy subjects but are also especially relevant for me as a public servant.

These subjects will help me understand my job better."
Not many people know that much before his tryst with politics, Dayanand had begun preparing for his civil service examination.

He used to study for 10 hours a day but couldn't continue that for long after he took a plunge into electoral politics in January.
Confident of emerging a topper in the final exams, he said, "I will not attend coaching classes and but will prepare on my own. I will study at night and use my days to my job as deputy mayor."
