A few months ago, Deepika Padukone had flown down to Budapest in the midst of shooting for her maiden Hollywood film, 'xXx: Return Of Xander Cage'. Back then, it was speculated that she did an item song for Dinesh Vijan's directorial debut, 'Raabta'. But, it turns out, she shot for the film's title track — a recreated version of the romantic 'Raabta' track from 'Agent Vinod' (2012). The spy thriller was produced by Vijan.

It is for the first time that a song from a recently released film has been reproduced. Originally featuring Saif Ali Khan and his beautiful begum, Kareena Kapoor Khan, the song was composed by Pritam. For Raabta the film, which stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, Vijan decided to get Deepika on board. The song has been filmed against a castle-on-water backdrop in the Hungarian capital.

The romantic track is past the mixing stage, the filmmaker tells us, adding, "Since the title was conceptualised first, I wanted to use the song in this movie. I was having an elaborate discussion with Pritam one day and we both decided touse the track. It also happens to be one of Deepika's favourites."

While Pritam scored the music for the new version, did Vijan get original singer Arijit Singh to croon Raabta 2.0? The filmmaker refuses to divulge further details. "We will be able to share more information once we are closer to the release.

But, yes, the rendition will be completely different from the last one. We have retained the same hook line, though. We have played around with the musical arrangement
and the orchestration. We even have new lyrics for the song. Fans of the last one will be in for a pleasant surprise."
