Defence land records to be digitised

Southern Army Commander Lt Gen A K Singh has said defence land records would be digitised in the wake of land scams like the Adarsh and Sukhna cases.

Singh was speaking on the sidelines of the 14th Foundation Day celebrations of the Suryadatta Group of Institutes.

He said the military had not been scientific enough in managing its land records so far but now the cantonment boards across the country had undertaken a massive digitisation project.

"All defence land records are now getting digitised with help from the Defence Estates Department so that no one is able to tinker with these records," the GOC-in-C said. "This will put an end to all fraudulent land transactions within cantonment areas."
