Special Cell arrested him a day before R-Day, after trailing him for several months
Delhi police arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist just a day before the Republic Day from Jammu region.
According to sources, a Special Cell of the Delhi police had been closely monitoring Jaish-e-Mohammed network in Jammu and Kashmir for the past few months and had recently got a tip-off that one of their area commanders was hiding in Jammu.
"We had put several telephone numbers under surveillance and early this week we zeroed-in on the exact location of the terrorist. Following this, a team from Delhi left for Jammu to nab the terrorist," the sources stated.
Senior police officers said that a day before Republic Day, the team reached the designated location and cordoned off the area before arresting the terrorist. As the team comprising special cell sleuths and intelligence bureau officials were bringing the terrorist back to Delhi for interrogation, their car met with an accident.
"They were on their way back to Delhi when their vehicle was hit by a vehicle belonging to Jammu police. The occupants of both the vehicles were hurt. While the IB officer's hand got fractured, the Delhi police inspector received bruises on his face and the terrorist suffered a bruise on his head," sources said.
"We produced him in a Jammu court and then brought him to the Capital on transit remand and produced him in a court here too," police said.

| A day before the Republic Day, the Delhi police, especially Special Cell, were on full alert after intelligence agencies informed them that five miscreants wearing uniforms of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) might try to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations. "We spent the entire day and night of January 25 checking out things to make sure that no one disrupted the celebrations. We checked entire CRPF deployment for Republic Day and also counted the uniforms to make sure that none were missing," sources said. |
