New Delhi: A 25-year-old domestic help, who hailed from West Bengal was allegedly beaten to death by her employers in west Delhi's Janakpuri area.

The victim, identified as Mumtaz Begum was brought to a private hospital in the area yesterday afternoon by two people, one of whom was her woman employer. "The woman had injury marks on her body and was bleeding profusely. When doctors inquired about the cause of injuries to those who had bought her to the hospital, they could not come up with credible answers and later slipped away.

The hospital authorities then informed us," said a senior police official. The victim later succumbed to her injuries in the evening. Her woman employer was identified as Pooja Kapoor. When police traced her to a house in Block 2 of Subhash Nagar, the residence was found to be locked from outside.

Locals told police that Kapoor often beat Begum, who hailed from West Bengal. She was employed five months ago as a domestic help in the house. "There were injuries on her body, the exact cause of death will be known only after postmortem which is expected to
take place tomorrow by a medical board. Although we have registered a case of murder in this connection, but will proceed further only after the autopsy report comes out," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh.

Police has procured the CCTV footage of the hospital to identify the duo that had brought Mumtaz there. Efforts are also being made to contact the victim's family in West Bengal.
