Delhi boy Sumit Nagal won the U-14 boys American Cup Tennis Championship at the Miccosukee Tennis Club in Miami, Florida.
Sumit defeated Canada's David Volfson 1-6, 6-1 and 10-6 in an intense battle on Saturday. "I was inconsistent in the first set, I just wanted to calm down and play the way I know I can play in the second and third sets and I did that," said Nagal, whose splits his time of training between Delhi and Toronto with his coach Bobby Mahal (the first Indian player to win the event).
Top players like Andy Murray (2000) and Novak Djokovic (2001) have won the tournament in past. Sumit now gets ready for the 50th Annual Junior Orangebowl in Miami, Florida, December 17-23.
