17-year-old fought for his life for two hours near the emergency ward; institute said it had no beds vacant

A 17-year-old boy died in front of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hopsital (LNJP) on Sunday after two hours of struggle in front of the emergency ward. This after Jeetaram was denied admission by the hospital simply because there was not even a single vacant bed.

No room
Jeetaram, a resident of Narela was first admitted to Satyavadi Harishchandra Hopital. But since his condition was very serious, he was referred to LNJP. For one hour he could not get an ambulance to take him to LNJP. It was only after an hour at around 10 pm that a CATS (Centralised Accident and Trauma Services) ambulance took him to the institute where he was denied admission.

Since he was in a very serious condition, family members and CATS ambulance personnel kept trying to get Jeetaram admitted, but without success. It was only after police arrived at the scene, about two hours later, that doctors relented.

'Apathy'
Unfortunately, it was too late for Jeetaram and he died while he was being taken inside the hospital.
Shriram, father of Jeetaram accused the hospital authorities of apathy. "My son was very seriously ill. For almost two hours, he kept struggling but no one admitted him. It is because of the hospital authorities that he has died," he added. Meanwhile, Richa Diwaan, Medical Superintendent, LNJP was not available to comment on the matter.
