The incident took place yesterday after some locals brought the alleged derogatory picture (posted on the bogus account of one Sachin Meshram on Facebook) to the notice of policemen here and demanded immediate action against the accused.u00a0

According to police, the account was hacked by some miscreants who posted this picture on FB. As soon as the news spread, the areas between Hiraghat and Sector 5 witnessed stone pelting and traders were forced to shut their shops, they said.

In view of the prevailing tension, police bandobast was increased in Sectors 1,2 and 3. Kalyan town also observed protests over the incident, sources said.

Subsequently, the account was blocked and an offence was registered against unknown persons with Vitthawadi police.

Police have launched a manhunt for the miscreants.
