Janata Dal (S) leader Deve Gowda today inaugurated the third front conference at Dobbespet near Bangalore ahead of the general elections.

CPI (M) leader Prakash Karat, CPI leader A B Bardhan, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, TRS president Chandrashekar Rao and TDS leader Chandrababu Naidu are taking part.

Though AIADMK leader Jayalalitha and BSP leader Mayawati haven't turned up for the meet, they have sent representatives.

The third front is a coalition of the Left parties, the JD (S), the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which recently said goodbye to the BJP in Orissa, has agreed to become a part of the third front. However, the party leader and chief minister Biju Patnaik is not taking part in the meet.

The meet is going on at the BPL Industrial Area spread across 124 acres in Dobbespet.
