Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked staff of the CMO for contributing their one day's salary towards water conservation scheme to mark his birthday on Wednesday.
"I thank CMO officials for birthday wishes but more than that I appreciate the gesture of donating one day salary for JalYuktShivar Movement," Fadnavis tweeted.
Fadnavis thanked BJP MLAs Ashish Shelar and Ameet Satam for donating Rs 25,000 each for JalYuktShivar.
"Please don't celebrate my birthday. No hoardings or advertisements or banners please. Please donate the amount for JalYuktShivar movement," the CM said.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has asked his followers to shun any celebrations on his birthday on July 27 and instead contribute to helping strife-torn farmers in the state.
"Uddhavji has asked all to avoid putting up banners and instead help farmers," a Sena leader said.
