Located between a temple and a mall on the Western Express Highway is a quaint joint called Browns, The Cafe. We're not clear why the owners would choose this location though, as temple goers might not find nirvana here, while shoppers already have several options inside the mall to choose from. So, it was not surprising that we were their only customers when we arrived at 1.30 pm, considered 'peak' time at most eateries.

Wooden chairs and tables are placed on either sides of a glass door, separating the two sections. A smiling attendant handed us a menu that ran into a few pages listing pizzas, sandwiches, coffees, teas, pastas and burgers. Exhausted by the journey and the heat, we asked for the Caramel Temptation (Rs 90) and a Frosty Hazelnut (Rs 80). To satiate our hunger pangs we ordered Potato Smiles (Rs 70) and a Baby Corn Special Pizza (110).

Food Arrives
The eight-inch pizza was loaded with cheese and was delicious. The potato smiles were deep-fried potatoes and tasted nice. The drinks came in large glasses, and we were pleased right from the first few sips. Our stomachs almost full, we were still tempted to try one more item from the menu. From the Grilled Pita sandwiches section, we ordered a Caesar Salad. Though it took about 20 minutes to arrive, the wait was worth it as the sandwich was delicious.

We were happy with the place and had nothing to complain about. Well, except for one thing... we hope they start serving water for free. When we asked for 'regular water', they said we had to buy packaged water, as they had not yet managed to arrange for drinking water. But given how apologetic the staff was and that the food tasted so good, we didn't mind having to shell out an extra Rs 10 on water.
