Former India hockey captain inaugurated the Olympian Vivek Singh Hockey Academy at Don Bosco High School, Matunga yesterday in presence of a distinguished gathering.

Former India hockey players Joaquim, Carvalho, Mervin Fernandes and Mohd Riaz were also present at the occasion as a celebrity team took on Don Bosco's U-16 team.

Taking off from the success of the academy in Varanasi (since 2005), Vivek's brother Olympian Rahul Singh and Satnam Kaur Singh will coach boys and girls at the academy in the city.

Pillay said he too would contribute to the academy. The academy will conduct an annual tournament in November for the city's U-16 school teams.
