India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni told MiD DAY: “We won’t be playing him in Delhi. It will be risky to play him.” Dhawan hurt his knuckles while fielding on Day Four and did not bat in India’s second dig yesterday.
The southpaw played a brilliant innings on debut, slamming a 174-ball 187. Dhawan and Murali Vijay (153) strung together a 289-run partnership for the first wicket in the first innings which proved to be decisive.
Dhoni during his post-match press conference said a formal email from the Indian board explaining Dhawan’s injury would be sent later.
