Fernando went for a thorough medical check-up yesterday. MiD DAY learnt that the injury is serious enough for the fast bowler to miss out on the IPL.

Fernando played regularly in the first edition of the IPL held in India, but was not a regular member of the playing XI in the last edition held in South Africa.u00a0 He looked in good form in the Mumbai net sessions and given his experience of playing on the sub-continental wickets, he was in Mumbai Indians team management's scheme of things for their first IPL game against Rajasthan Royals at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.
