Dilip Kumar stable after heart attack

The condition of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital last night after he complained of breathlessness, is stable, his family said on Monday.

"He is stable, and we are praying that he recovers fully. On 13th of this month he had viral fever for one day and today he felt a little discomfort and we decided to bring him to hospital and right now he is conscious. He had undergone open heart surgery 14 years ago," the actor's wife Saira Banu told reporters outside the hospital.

“He is aging and has suffered a heart attack of the inferior wall,” said a source from the hospital.

He has been kept under observation in the Intensive Care Unit and is under the care of cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale. Kumar was brought to the hospital at around 8.30 pm.

“He was feeling uncomfortable in the evening, so we got him to Lilavati hospital. Now his routine check-up is going on. We will be able to talk only tomorrow morning, but he is fine,” the actor’s manager said.

“He is not on ventilator and is conscious and also well-oriented,” said a hospital source.

Dr Narendra Trivedi, COO of Lilavati Hospital, said, “He was brought to the hospital at 9pm. He had breathing problems and he has been admitted in the ICU. He is under the care of cardiologists. However, there is no cause of concern, he is absolutely stable and has been kept in the ICU just for observation.”¬†

Meanwhile, Saira Banu came outside the hospital and briefed the reporters about the health of her husband. "He is stable, and we are praying that he recovers fully. On 13th of this month he had viral fever for one day and today he felt a little discomfort and we decided to bring him to hospital and right now he is conscious. He had undergone open heart surgery 14 years ago," the actress said.
