Sachin Tendulkar was accorded a grand farewell at the Wankhede on Saturday, but discontentment is brewing among Mumbai Cricket Association members in context with the in-stadia experience at the stadium during the course of the second Test against the West Indies.

Discontent brews at MCA post-Tendulkar's grand farewell

The MCA had entrusted the responsibility to an event management company in order to make the stadium experience extra special for Tendulkar’s landmark 200th Test.u00a0

They had also sent out a press release elaborating on their preparations for the momentous event. While the commemorative postal stamp with Tendulkar’s photo, a 64 page brochure and special coin for the toss materialised as per plan, the promise of daily distribution of 10,000 masks, scorecards and caps with Tendulkar’s photograph on them to the spectators never happened.

“Members are upset that none of our (MCA) plans were executed. Tendulkar came, played the match and was given an emotional send-off. That’s it. Nothing else. There was no special treatment for fans. It was a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Everyone is upset,” an MCA source told MiD DAY.

“Look at the Cricket Association of Bengal. They made a real effort to please the fans attending Tendulkar’s 199th Test. Comparatively, there was nothing like that in Mumbai,” the source added. The issue is likely to be taken up in MCA’s managing committee meeting on Saturday.u00a0
