Head to the Big Akanksha Shop Sale to choose from handmade accessories, bags and furniture. Your participation in the sale will help raise money towards the education of the children who have created the product range
From jewellery boxes to photo frames, shoes and T-shirts, you’re bound to find something that catches your fancy from the range of products that go on sale at the Big Akanksha Shop Shop. What’s more, you can avail of discounts ranging from 10 to 50 per cent.

Children between the ages of 10 and 14 have created the artwork on the products. The children, who are associated with the Akanksha Foundation, conceived the designs during art classes. The inspiration was then transferred onto the products that have are on sale that kicks off on Saturday.
“This is the first sale that Akanksha has organised,” says Sriparna Sengupta, senior Associate, Art for Akanksha. Art for Akanksha was started eight years ago, as an effort to to keep the interest in art alive for kids.
Class act
“Apart from the fact that part of the curriculum is taught with the help of art, we have design classes over weekends for kids interested in art. Last year, we taught kids about u00a0different Indian artists. This year, we taught them about u00a0different forms of Indian art,” she informs.
The best artworks that came out of these classes have been used on products that will be on sale. The artworks are made by kids over the last three to four years that find themselves on a variety of products.
There sale includes bags, accessories, notebooks, shoes, CD stands, jigsaw bangles, clipboards, mirrors, candles and furniture. Funds raised will go towards the benefit of the kids. Akanksha has recently adopted four new schools and are looking for volunteers and teachers.
