Does Santa Claus exist? We aren't quite sure, but we have proof that mermaids do. A suburban hotel is hosting two mermaids from Russia, both synchronised swimmers, who swim about in an 18-feet deep tank, holding their breath for as long as 15 minutes at a stretch. Evegenya and Irina swim around exotic, even poisonous fish. "The fish here are from the Red Sea. While 90% are poisonous, the rest are mighty aggressive," claims the restaurant manager. Enjoy the Pan-Asian eatery's signature Thai Curry, while one of them blows you a flying kiss from underwater.

It's all about getting the meter and rhythm right, say the wise. But here's an event that allows you to be a poet who has some fun. One Night Stand, a poetry slam event, wants you to go beyond reading out your poem. It doesn't matter if the topic revolves around your morning poo or genetic engineering. The performance does (think rap, bebop, gesturing). The wild ones usually get voted as winners by the audience.
