A doctor at an Apollo hospital in Gandhinagar in Gujarat has been arrested after a patient, suffering from dengue, alleged that he raped her in the ICU earlier this week.


According to reports, the woman, in her early 20s, was admitted to hospital on Saturday, and was allegedly raped by the doctor as well as a hospital worker. The woman said that she was sexually assaulted on Sunday when the doctor, Ramesh Chauhan (28) was on the night shift, and that she was given some drug before being raped, so that she could not resist.

The crime allegedly took place in the region the hospital where visitors’ entry is restricted. She has alleged that she had been given some drug before being raped, so she could not fight back. A ward boy has also been nabbed in connection with the crime.

A medical examination has confirmed that the young woman was raped. Cops told the media that the survivor informed of her ordeal in a letter to her uncle.
