Pet peeve: MTNL residential colony, the setting for the whole drama.
A senior police official confirmed the incident. He said that the incident took place in the MTNL colony, Rohini. The accused were identified as Anita, Sunita and their brother, Sunil Kumar. "They were arrested and have been sent to jail. The police got a call on Sunday evening. The victim, Murli, is a fourth-grade employee in MTNL. Who's the top dog?
The victim, Murli Sharma, lives in MTNL colony along with his wife Ranjana Sharma and two children. The accused persons live on the second floor of the building, while Murli's house is on the ground floor. The father of the accused persons used to be an official in MTNL. Speaking to this reporter, Ranjana Sharma, wife of the victim, said that Anita and Sunita used to trouble her family using their pet dog.
"They often bring the dog outside our house. They used to hurl abuses if we would oppose them. Their dog would defaecate outside our house. My husband had asked them not to bring the dog near the house but they threatened him each time. On Sunday, around 5 pm they brought the dog outside our house and picked up an argument with my husband, and they brutally thrashed Murli. When I reached the spot, I found him
unconscious in a pool of blood," Ranjana said.
She said that Murli has a fracture in his leg and has injuries all over his body. "Doctor says due to excess bleeding, he fell unconscious and suffered brain haemorrhage. He has not opened his eyes after the incident," she sobbed.
Though the police have arrested the three accused of the incident, the family of the victim is not happy with the cops. They alleged that the police booked the accused under a mild IPC section. "An FIR under section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) has been lodged instead of section 307 (attempt to murder)," they alleged. Police officials said they are taking necessary action in this regard.
