Don't hide behind your raincoat

Add some fun to your monsoon wardrobe with designer Sonya Vajifdar’s raincoat collection. “People are becoming increasingly style conscious,” says Sonya, adding. “I’ve seen more and more people opening up to the idea of wearing funky raincoats. My collection will give them room to go trendy.”

Raincoats for dogs are available from Rs 2,500 onwards

The collection, available in bold colours, including pink, purple and blue, is priced from Rs 4,000 onwards. “This time, I’ve tried to incorporate glamour into the collection. So, I’ve focused on sequins in antique gold and silver that are covered in PVC (PolyVinyl Chloride), so that it’s completely waterproof,” informs the designer.

The collection comprises a number of styles — from the ¬†balloon-style raincoat, which balloons from the waist downwards to enable water to slide off and away from the feet, to a poncho-style raincoat that comes studded with sequins and a frill made of PVC.

“Trench raincoats are the most popular from the collection. They are a safe bet for people looking to not experiment too much,” says Sonya.

The collection also includes raincoats for pooches. “We do a collection for dogs as well. The raincoats, which we jazz up a little bit, cover the entire body of the dog. We also have waterproof shoes that can be tied on the feet, so that their feet don’t get dirty.”
