London: British sprinter Asha Philip, who will be racing at her first Olympics next month, insists clean athletes will not be distracted with the ongoing Russian scandal.

"As an athlete I have to go up to the line and run, regardless of whether they’re there or not," Philip said. "It doesn’t bother me. If they are drug cheats and they are in my race I still have to compete against them. I just have to know how hard I’ve worked and just beat them anyway."
‘No negative energy’
"We just want all the negative energy about drugs not to be in our sport any more," Philip said. "Palm it on to someone else, we don’t want it."
Fellow British sprinter Jodie Williams believes banning Russia’s track and field athletes showed a strong response to the scandal. It seems there’s a new thing every day," Williams said.
"Athletics has taken a firm stance on everything and we’ve shown the way with banning Russia. I’m confident there is going to be a level playing field.
"I don’t think you can go out there thinking it’s not, otherwise it drives you crazy."
